Working with Children and Young People

Inniu provides therapeutic support to children and young people incorporating talk-therapy, structured play therapy, sandplay, art therapy practices, wellness and self-care tools, as appropriate.

Inniu takes a systemic approach to all work with children and young people, actively involving parents/guardians in the process, and, where necessary, also linking with other important support systems in the child’s life, such as schools.

An initial meeting will be held with parents/guardians to discuss the issues of concern and a potential plan for the work. Following this, the child/young person will attend for an introductory session with their parent/s to discuss the work, establish goals, etc. Regular reviews will be held with the parent/guardian and child/young person, usually after four to six sessions.

Parental consent is always sought when working with a child/young person under the age of eighteen.
